Bosnia and Herzegovina will be represented at tomorrow’s 30th anniversary Balkan indoor championships in Belgrade by ten athletes, but among them there are not two of the best – middle distance runner Amel Tuka and shot putter Mesud Pezer.
A total of 292 representatives from 21 countries have registered for this year’s indoor Balkanijada, which will be held in the Banjica Hall: Albania, Armenia, Austria, Azerbaijan, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, Cyprus, Georgia, Greece, Israel, Moldova, North Macedonia, Malta, Montenegro, Romania, Slovenia, San Marino, Serbia, Turkey and Ukraine.
BiH will be represented by: Maša Garić in the 60m and 400m, Milica Pelemiš, Nuredin Zekan and Bakir Musić in the 60m, Abedin Mujezinović in the 800m, Hamza Muharemović and Nermin Štitkovac in the shot put, Marko Šuković in the high jump, Ermin Beganović in the 400m and Emina Omanović in the long jump.
– This year, if we exclude Zekan and Mujezinović, we will perform with the young, up-and-coming forces of Bosnia and Herzegovina. athletics. Men’s national team selector Dragan Tomić is with them – General Secretary of the Athletics Federation of BiH Mehmed Lokmić said in a statement to Fena.
BiH athletes will not return to their homeland after the Balkaniad, which starts tomorrow at 11 a.m., because they will also compete in the BiH National Indoor Championships in the same hall.
– It is known that we, in our country, do not have the conditions for holding the indoor championship. Previously, we held them under the tribune of the Kamberovića Polje Athletic Stadium in Zenica, and two years ago in Belgrade, but together with Serbian competitors. However, this year we will be alone, that is, our athletes will have this hall to themselves on Sunday. The Athletics Federation of Serbia once again came to meet us and with a minimal fee ensured the best conditions for the competition, for which we are very grateful. Otherwise, we have excellent cooperation – says Lokmić.
Competitions within the BiH State Indoor Competition on Sunday, February 22, start at 1 pm and should end around 5 pm, as the last competition is scheduled for 4:35 pm.
Competitions within BH. championships will be held in the following disciplines: long distance, high jump, 800 m, shot put, 400 m, 3,000 m, 60 m, 60 m breaststroke, triple jump and pole vault, while the men’s competition will also be held at 1,500 m and in the 4×400 m relay.
