Several harrowing videos emerged over the weekend showing just how deadly Iran’s protests have become.
One set of videos was recorded in a morgue near the city of Kahrizak, at the Forensic Diagnostic and Laboratory Center of Tehran Province, located about 14 miles from Tehran.
By comparing the layout of the building’s exterior and the dimensions and structure of the warehouse and another nearby building with satellite images, the BBC confirmed the location.
Footage from outside the buildings shows a large number of body bags on trolleys, around which hundreds of people have gathered.
One video shows a warehouse that appears to be filled with both bags and people watching them. At least 50 body bags can be seen in that video.
One video from Sunday was released by state television. It shows a reporter arriving at the location and in a windowless room inside the same warehouse examining body bags, talking to grieving people.
The two videos found by BBC Verify did not appear online before January 10, although they may have been recorded earlier.
