At least nine Palestinians were killed in Israeli airstrikes in the northern and southern Gaza Strip on Sunday, Palestinian civil defense and health officials said.
Doctors said an Israeli airstrike on a tent settlement housing displaced families killed at least four people, while health officials said another attack in the southern city of Khan Yunis killed five.
An Israeli military official said the army was targeting “Hamas terrorists” in response to “Saturday’s incident in Beit Hanun, where terrorists came out of a tunnel east of the Yellow Line.”
The official described Sunday’s strikes as “precise” and in line with international law, adding that Hamas had violated more than six terms of the October truce, including deploying east of the Yellow Line agreed by the truce to demarcate territories controlled by Israel and Hamas.
The Palestinian Ministry of Health said at least 600 Palestinians have been killed in Israeli attacks since the ceasefire took effect.
