Araghchi sent this message via social media, stating that Iran had learned what he called “valuable lessons” from the 12-day war last June. However, at the same time, he took a somewhat softer tone when it comes to diplomatic solutions, stressing that Tehran would welcome a nuclear deal that is “mutually beneficial, fair and equitable.”
His statements come at a time of heightened tensions, after an adviser to Iran’s supreme leader repeated serious warnings to the United States. Ali Shamkhani took to the X Network, saying:
“A limited strike is an illusion. Any military action by the United States, from any location and at any level, will be considered the beginning of war, and the response will be immediate, comprehensive and unprecedented – aimed at the heart of Tel Aviv and all supporters of the aggressor.”
The message is the latest in a series of threats coming from Tehran aimed at dissuading Washington from any military moves. Additionally, an Iranian official told Reuters last week that any attack on Iran would mean “total war.”
