Almost every second citizen of Germany gets cancer, the state immunological institute Robert Koch in Berlin announced today.
“49 percent of men and 46 percent of women will be diagnosed with cancer during their lifetime,” the Robert Koch Institute (RKI) published in its regular edition on the eve of the day of the fight against cancer, February 4.
According to the same data, every sixth woman and every seventh man get cancer before the age of 65.
According to data for 2023, out of about half a million new cancer cases diagnosed, the largest number is prostate cancer, followed by breast, lung and colon cancer.
In the same year, 230,000 people died from cancer.
At the same time, as announced by the RKI, the death rate of cancer patients has dropped significantly in the last 25 years, for men by 30 percent and for women by 20 percent.
Every year on the eve of the World Cancer Day, RKKI publishes statistics with the aim of better disease prevention and awareness among citizens.
