The officers of the Criminal Police Department of the Police Department I in Zenica, in cooperation and under the supervision of the Cantonal Prosecutor’s Office of the Zenica-Doboj Canton, undertook intensive activities to shed light on the serious theft of an apartment that took place on 12/31/2025. year, in Potok Street, Zenica City, when money in the amount of 14,000.00 KM was stolen from inside the apartment by an unknown person.
After the investigative actions, the officers of the Criminal Police Department came to certain indications and high-quality operational knowledge, which were checked and in the direction of which the operational activities of the police teams were undertaken. As a result of the indicated activities, today, 13.01.2026. year, the person SM, born in 1994, from Zenica, who was linked to the execution of the aforementioned criminal act, was deprived of his liberty.
As part of the activity to document the committed serious theft, and acting in accordance with the order of the Municipal Court in Zenica, the apartment used by the mentioned person was searched, as well as the common rooms of the residential building in Potok Street, during which the following was found:
- 4275 grams of a powdery substance that looks like the narcotic drug amphetamine (speed),
- 910 grams of plant matter, which in its appearance is associated with the intoxicating drug marijuana,
- one pistol and 5 pieces of pistol ammunition,
- two tablets that look similar to the intoxicating drug ecstasy,
- money in the amount of 730.00 KM and 530 Euros.
The weapons and material found were confiscated and will be the subject of the necessary expertise and checks, and will be used as evidence in further proceedings. It is important to note here that the mentioned person is already known to the police as a multiple perpetrator of property crimes and crimes related to the abuse of narcotic drugs.
A criminal case has been filed against the arrested persons, after which, during tomorrow, 14.01.2026 to be exact. year, along with the Report on the committed criminal offense and the discovery of the perpetrator, be submitted to the jurisdiction and further action of the Cantonal Prosecutor’s Office of the Zenica-Doboj Canton, due to the existence of grounds for suspicion that he committed the criminal offense of “Unauthorized production and distribution of narcotic drugs” from Article 238 of the Criminal Code of the Federation of BiH and the criminal offense from Article 52 of the Law on the Acquisition, Possession and Carrying of Weapons and Ammunition of the Zenica-Doboj Canton and in connection with the criminal offense “Aggravated theft” from Article 287 of the Criminal Code of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
This successful police action and the seizure of a significant amount of narcotic drugs prevented its further sale to end users, which, in addition to the preventive effect, reaffirms the commitment of the Police Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Zenica-Doboj Canton to, through decisive leadership and coordination of all services and units, ensure an energetic response to all emerging forms of illegal activity by individuals and groups, who, with the aim of achieving financial gain, carry out illegal trafficking and sale of narcotic drugs.
