A citizen of Bosnia and Herzegovina was slightly injured in an accident that happened yesterday, March 27, in the early morning hours, when an electric truck ran off the road, causing damage of around 400,000 euros.
According to reports, the 38-year-old driver was driving an all-electric Actros truck when, under still unknown circumstances, he veered right off the road at around 3:15 am. The truck climbed the rising guardrail and then landed under the highway, in the neighboring field. The tugboat weighing about 28 tons with its cargo literally flew over the fence, which created a challenge for the rescue teams.
Firefighters and rescue services intervened for the first time in the accident of an electric truck.
– We did not immediately know how to act, because we had no experience with this type of vehicle – said the rescue service. It turned out that the batteries under the truck were not damaged, and the driver was slightly injured and taken to the hospital as a precaution.
The rescue teams provided fire protection, turned off the fuse in the cabin and determined that there was no elevated temperature of the batteries, which prevented a greater risk. Since the electric truck does not use conventional fuel, the road did not require additional cleaning.
All available power was used to remove the load, as the truck was carrying 11 tons of goods that had to be unloaded manually. The freeway in the direction of Munich was closed until 9:30 a.m., and traffic was diverted via the U6 ring road from Neukirchen to Siegsdorf.
