In 2025, a total of 1,355,856 road vehicles were registered in Bosnia and Herzegovina, which represents an increase of 60,632 vehicles, or 4.68 percent, compared to the previous year.
In the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, a total of 816,064 motor vehicles and trailers are registered or 60.19 percent of the total number in BiH, in the Republika Srpska 496,615 or 36.63 percent, while a total of 43,177 road vehicles or 3.18 percent of the total number are registered in the Brčko District of BiH.
The average age of road motor vehicles in Bosnia and Herzegovina is 17 years, which means that it remained unchanged compared to 2024.
Out of the total number, 74.18 percent of registered vehicles in Bosnia and Herzegovina use diesel as a fuel, which is the dominant share in the vehicle fleet. Gasoline is the second most common source of fuel with 22.66 percent of vehicles using it, while biodiesel vehicles account for only 0.0124 percent.
In 2025, 121,844 road motor vehicles were registered for the first time in Bosnia and Herzegovina, which represents 8.99 percent of the total number. Of this, the most represented category is passenger vehicles, which make up 76.52 percent with 93,239 vehicles.
The Volkswagen brand is the most represented on the Bosnia and Herzegovina market with a share of 30.08 percent in the total number of registered vehicles, the Škoda brand is the second most represented with 8.15 percent, while Mercedes is the third with a share of 6.81 percent.
Other brands such as Audi, Peugeot, Opel and Renault have a significant share on the roads of Bosnia and Herzegovina, with percentages of 6.51 percent, 6.02 percent, 5.31 percent and 5.07 percent respectively, BIHAMK announced.
