The international tournament “Play football, live life” U-16 was held this year for the 15th time from June 5 to 7 in the capital of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
After the group games were played on Friday and Saturday, the grand final between Sarajevo and Željeznicar was played today, and in the end the Bordeaux team won with a score of 1:0. The scorer of the only goal was Nur Salimović.
Before the final clash, both clubs had won four trophies each in this tournament. Now the team from Koševo is the most successful because they stood out at the top with five trophies won in 2016, 2017, 2021, 2025 and 2026.
After all the games have been played, the table of the 15th International Tournament “Play Football, Live Life” looks like this: 1. Sarajevo, 2. Željezničar, 3. Spartak Subotica, 4. Brinje Grosuplje, 5. UTA Arad, 6. SV Donau, 7. Čelik, 8. Novi Pazar.
Before the final match, the matches for 3rd, 5th and 7th place were played.
In the match for 3rd place, Spartak – Brinje Grospulje played 1:1 (Andžić and Bećarević scorers), and after the penalty shootout, the team from Subotica won and reached position number three.
The battle for the 5th place was offered by the match between UTA Arad and SV Donau 1:1 (Ruda and Dzogić scorers), and after penalty kicks the team – UTA Arad was more successful.
In the match for 7th place, Čelik and Novi Pazar faced off, and interestingly, after the regular part it was 1:1 (Duraković and Dazdarević scored), and the team from Zenica was more successful after the penalty.
Ahmed Čaušević (Sarajevo) was declared the best player of the tournament, and the award was presented to him by Davor Radović, the president of the Organizing Committee of the tournament.
The award for the most successful goalkeeper went to Zak Agić (Željezničar), and the award was presented to him by Enes Sipović, a former Blues player from Grbavica.
The first scorers of the tournament were Ahmed Bićo (Sarajevo) and Alen Baraković (Željezničar) with 4 goals each, and the award was presented to them by the former player of the team from Koševo, Amer Dupovac.
Ahmed Avdičević (Sarajevo) won the award for the most talented player – that is, the “Saša Minagodić” award, and the award was presented by Svjetlana Manigodić, the sister of Saša, who was a friend and member of the tournament’s organizing team.
According to the organizers, this tournament is a platform for the development of young football players, the promotion of healthy life values, fair play, friendship and mutual respect among young people from different countries and cultures.
As they point out, through the gathering of talented teams from Bosnia and Herzegovina, the region and Europe, Sarajevo confirms its position as a city of sports, youth and openness. At the same time, the tournament contributes to the development of youth sports, the promotion of our city as an attractive sports and tourism destination, and the strengthening of international cooperation through sports.
– We are proud that for fifteen years we have been creating an event that gives young people the opportunity to build friendships through football, gain new experiences and adopt values that will follow them throughout their lives – said Davor Radović, president of the tournament’s organizing committee.
