The Ministry of Spatial Planning, Transport and Communications and Environmental Protection of the Zenica-Doboj Canton signed contracts with 24 selected suppliers based on the Public Invitation for the delivery of equipment with installation within the project “Air Quality Improvement (AQIP)”.
By signing the contract, conditions were created for the next phase of the project, i.e. the publication of a public call for citizens of the Zenica-Doboj Canton who will be able to apply for the implementation of energy efficiency measures in the housing sector.
Prime Minister ZDK Nezir Pivic he pointed out that the project, worth around eight million euros, represents significant support for citizens. He emphasized that the funds will be directed directly to citizens for the replacement of home fireplaces, which will enable warmer and more energy efficient homes, but also contribute to improving air quality.
Minister Adnan Shabani he explained that it is about the continuation of the implementation of the contract signed with the World Bank, and that after the formation of the Register of Home Stoves, the areas with the biggest pollution problems were identified.
Project manager Armin Bašić he stated that the costs of energy efficiency measures will be financed in the ratio of 50 percent of project funds and 50 percent of user participation. After the approval of the application, the citizens will conclude a contract on the implementation of the measures with one of the selected suppliers, while the project funds will be directed directly to the execution of the works.
The project envisages the replacement of home coal fireplaces with more modern heating systems, such as pellet stoves and heat pumps.
