Muhamed Kaloper, a young karate player from Gorazdan, won a gold medal at the Balkan Championship in Istanbul, where he performed with the BiH karate team.
The 12-year-old Kaloper is currently a member of the “Perfekt Sarajevo” martial arts club, and he won a valuable award at this prestigious competition after five successful matches.
– I am a representative of BiH for the third year in a row. This year I did extremely well in the competition and won first place. I had the first match against the Turkish national team, the second against Bulgaria, then North Macedonia, then a competitor from BiH and the fifth match and the final against Croatia. The third match against the Bulgarian national team was really demanding, where I lost 2:0, but then I came back and won 6:5. It was tight, but I remained calm and succeeded – explains the young promising athlete.
A new competition awaits him soon, and then a well-deserved summer break.
– The next competitions are the Perfekt Glory Cup, so there will be a summer break, and then preparations and work again, to achieve the same goal next year – believes Kaloper.
At the Balkan Karate Championship for children in Istanbul, karate players from the Gorazdan clubs Medina Bešlija, Ajša Maličević and Danin Rogo (KK Special) and Irfan Hadžimešić and Ajla Peštek (KK Holiday) performed with the BiH national team, who also worthily represented the clubs and the state of BiH.
The title of Balkan champion went to Medina Bešlija, a member of KK Special – Sarajevo section.
The BiH karate team took 4th place overall
