A French court may request an arrest warrant for American billionaire Elon Musk as part of an investigation into the social network “X,” which has been accused of distributing illegal content, Paris prosecutor Laure Beccuau said.

Beccuau stated that the investigation against “X” is ongoing and is being conducted by three investigative judges.

She believes that an arrest warrant could be requested if Musk, the owner of “X”, ignores subpoenas, which could happen if the judges judge that he should be summoned to a criminal court.

The prosecutor’s office in Paris announced in February that the offices of the “X” company in France were searched, and the media reported that the investigation was related to the procedure initiated against the social network in January last year after complaints about its algorithms.

The Paris prosecutor’s office summoned Musk and former Xa CEO Linda Yaccarino to a hearing scheduled for April 20.

After the owner of the platform did not appear, the prosecution launched a preliminary investigation against him on May 7.

Musk recently made homophobic and derogatory comments to French judges on his “X” account in response to a post about a new phase of the investigation in France.

In another post, he told them to “leave before he offends them again.”
