The session of the Initiative Committee of representatives of the firefighters of the City of Mostar and Canton of Sarajevo was held today in the premises of the Independent Union of Civil Servants and Employees in Civil Service Bodies, Judiciary and Public Institutions in the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
The meeting was initiated and led by the president of the trade union, Samir Kurtović. The goal of the meeting is to launch the Initiative to improve the rights and position of firefighters in the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina and to equalize the rights of firefighters upon retirement with the rights of police officers and other officers who have benefited seniority.
Retirement of firefighters under more favorable conditions
The meeting took place in a working and constructive atmosphere, and at the end of the meeting, a Conclusion was adopted on the formation of the Coordination of Firefighters and Civil Protection Union Organizations of the entire Federation of BiH and a joint Commission that will prepare a draft of the Amendment to the Law on Firefighting, which will enable the retirement of firefighters on more favorable terms, according to the benefited length of service.
Campaign to the competent authorities
After drafting the proposal to amend the Law on Firefighting, a joint meeting will be held with representatives of all trade union organizations of firefighters from the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, for the purpose of presenting the working material and agreeing on the final proposal of the text of the Amendment to the Law on Firefighting.
This will be followed by a campaign towards the competent authorities for the adoption and application of the new law and the resolution of favorable pensions, the union announced, reports Focus.
