“More than 10,000 US sailors, marines and airmen, along with more than 12 warships and a hundred aircraft, are conducting a mission to block ships entering and leaving Iranian ports,” the statement said.
According to CENTCOM, during the first 24 hours of the US blockade, no ships were able to pass, while six merchant vessels obeyed orders and returned to Iranian ports in the Gulf of Oman.

As they point out, the blockade is carried out impartially towards ships of all countries that enter or leave Iranian ports in the Persian and Gulf of Oman, with the emphasis that freedom of navigation through the Strait of Hormuz is still allowed for ships not going to Iran.
The blockade started yesterday in the afternoon of our time, based on the decision of the American President Donald Trump, after the failed negotiations between the American and Iranian delegations in Islamabad. Trump then announced the so-called the “double blockade” of the Strait of Hormuz, through which Iran has previously restricted the passage of ships.
The US military says the measures will cover the Persian Gulf and the Gulf of Oman, as well as part of the Arabian Sea east of the Strait of Hormuz, including the entire Iranian coastline, ports and energy infrastructure. CENTCOM warns that all ships that try to enter or leave without authorization will be intercepted, diverted or seized, while humanitarian shipments will still be allowed.
On the other hand, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps has announced retaliation, further increasing the risk of conflict escalation in a region that is of key importance for global energy supplies.
