While negotiations between U.S. and Russian officials continue in Saudi Arabia, Donald Trump, General Keith Kellogg, arrived in Brussels, where he held separate meetings with the European Council President and the President of the European Commission Ursula von Der Leyen.
– In this decisive moment, I met with General Kellogg to discuss the perspectives for peace in Ukraine. Peace cannot be just a simple ceasefire – a deal is necessary to provide a comprehensive, just and lasting peace in Ukraine and security in Europe. Ukraine can count on Europe. We are ready to continue to cooperate constructively with the United States to ensure peace and stability – the president of the European Council on the X platform.
The President of the European Commission Ursula von Der Leyen emphasized the key role of the EU in ensuring the financial stability of Ukraine and its defense, with a total engagement of 135 billion euros, which is more than any other ally. This includes 52 billion dollars of military aid, which is in accordance with American contributions, the European Commission statement said.
It also presented Europe’s plans to increase the production of defense equipment and costs, strengthening military ability and Europe and Ukraine.
Von Der Leyen said the conversation was important and added that “we want to cooperate with the United States to ensure just and lasting peace for Ukraine.”
