According to the claims of the Ukrainian intelligence service, Russia has accelerated plans for a possible direct aggression against the European Union, and the year 2027 is mentioned as the new deadline.
This was stated by Lieutenant General Kirilo Budanov, head of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine.
Budanov stated that Moscow previously planned to be ready for such moves only around 2030, but those plans were revised and shortened.
According to him, Russia still sees itself as an empire that must expand its influence and territory.
He pointed out that Russia has no real possibilities for expansion in the north, east or south, which is why the West is imposing itself as the only option.
In this context, the Baltic countries are considered particularly vulnerable, while Poland, according to available information, is currently seen as a target for possible military strikes, not occupation.
The warnings from Kiev come at a time of heightened security consultations within the European Union and NATO.
NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte recently said that the Alliance is already in the risk zone and that the Russian threat is real and requires a quick and decisive reaction.
