UK introduces Russia new set of sanctions

The United Kingdom will release a significant package of sanctions against Russia on the anniversary of the beginning of the Russian invasion of Ukraine, the British Foreign Minister David Lammy said.

As Lammy stated the day before the anniversary (23. February), it will be the largest package of sanctions against Russia from the first days of the war.

Measures will be aimed at “weakening their military machinery and reducing revenues that encourage destruction in Ukraine,” Lammy said.

“Now is the moment to strengthen the pressure on Putin’s Russia,” the British Minister added.

Lammy reiterated the military support of Great Britain Kiev, including the promise to secure $ 3 billion ($ 3.78 billion) and willingness that, if necessary, send British troops within the peacekeeping forces.

“Out of the battlefield, we will work with the US and European partners to achieve sustainable and justice, with a consistent attitude that there is not a decision on Ukraine without Ukraine,” Lammy emphasized, broadcasting Radio Free Europe.

British Prime Minister Keir Starmer 22. He held separate telephone conversations with the European Commission President Ursula Von Der Leyen and Ukrainian President Volodimir Greens, repeating a message similar to the Lammy.

Last week, European Union countries agreed on the new sanction package, which will officially be adopted 24. February.

These measures include a ban on the import of Russian aluminum.

Starmer planned 27. February traveled to the Washington to a meeting with US President Donald Trump, with the aim of providing the Territorial and Security Guarantees for Kiev in the event of an agreement on the end of the war.

The announcement of the Lammy diplomacy comes at the time when Kiev and its European allies were now concerned with the beginning of the Russian Future of Conflict, without the participation of Ukraine or the European Union.

“This is a key moment in the history of Ukraine, Britain and the whole of Europe … Now is the time for Europe to double its support of Ukraine,” Lammy said.

From the beginning of the war, London has already introduced sanctions against 1,900 people and organizations related to Putin’s rule.
