Turkey will start building a wall on the border with Greece to prevent illegal entrances to the European Union, the Governor of the Turkish northwest province of sailing.
“It is planned to build 8.5 kilometers in the beginning,” Junus Sezer, the governor of this province that borders Greek and Bulgaria.
The official added that other parts of this wall should be raised later along the land border between Turkey and Greece, which is about 200 kilmers long and which is almost entirely in the Marica River.
Migrants are trying to reach Greece from Turkey, mostly by sea, the new one is transmitted.
Six migrants were killed at sea at the end of February when they tried to reach the Greek island of Samos in a rubber boat.
