The White House is preparing that 2. April imposes new customs on a series of widely consumption, which is a move that provoked criticism of international leaders and concerns about the potential price increase for consumers, Hina reports.
In an interview for NBC News, Trump said that his permanent customs in cars would be produced abroad for the factories based in the US. He is convinced that the move will lead to an increase in the sale of cars produced in the United States.
“I hope he raise prices, because if they do, people will buy car production cars,” Trump said.
Trump claimed to consider negotiations about customs only “if people are willing to give some great value.”
Customs are part of Trump’s efforts to promote American production and reduce the country’s trade deficit. Trade policy is the key focus of his presidential term, with constant tensions with the main trade partners.
The mentioned volume of 25 percent will enter into force on 2. April and will apply to all cars that are not produced in the US, which means that even US manufacturers will be customs in foreign models.
Customs on cars are the last in a series of levies, which the US president has introduced since he took office.
With the rest, Trump has so far introduced a duty of 20 percent to all imports from China and a global customs duties of 25 percent on imported steel and aluminum products.
In February, Trump announced a general duty of 25 percent on all Canadian and Mexican imports, but later pauses the tax on certain goods and services in accordance with the USA, Mexico and Canada agreement.
