“I can’t tell you much, because we’re in a very heated negotiation right now,” Trump said during an interview with Fox News.
He said he would soon be “fully briefed” on Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s proposed two-week ceasefire.
“I can tell you that I know him (Sharif) well, he is a respected man everywhere,” Trump said.
Sharif previously called on Trump to push back his deadline for a deal with Iran by two weeks and asked Tehran to open the Strait of Hormuz in the same period, saying that ongoing diplomatic efforts are promising and should be brought to an end.
“In order for diplomacy to develop to the end, I sincerely request President Trump to extend the deadline by two weeks,” Sharif said in a post on the X social network.
He also called on Tehran to open the Strait of Hormuz during the same two weeks “as a gesture of goodwill”.
After that, the media reported that Iran views Pakistan’s proposal positively, while White House spokeswoman Caroline Leavitt said that Trump is aware of the proposal and will soon give his answer.
Donald Trump threatened Iran earlier today that “an entire (one) civilization will die tonight” recalling the deadline he gave Tehran to unblock the Strait of Hormuz.
“Tonight will be an important moment in world history. An entire (one) civilization will die tonight and never come back. But maybe something revolutionary and wonderful can happen, who knows,” Trump wrote in a post on his Truth Social platform.
