“Iran wants to make a deal,” Trump told reporters at the White House, adding that such talks had been discussed for weeks but that a final deal was not yet in sight.
As he pointed out, Iran essentially no longer has an army.
“They want an agreement, but I am not satisfied,” he emphasized.
Trump also warned that any acceptance of Iran’s nuclear weapons would be dangerous.
“Whoever thinks it’s okay for Iran to have nuclear weapons is not very smart,” he said, assessing that it would be terrible in the future and lead to problems the world has never seen before.
He added that Iran no longer has a navy, an air force, or air defense systems.
“Their forces have been destroyed,” Trump pointed out and asserted that Iran’s leadership is divided and does not know who the real leader is.
Speaking about the possible options of the US towards Iran, Trump stated that Washington has a choice between military escalation and a deal.
“Do we want to destroy them completely or try to reach an agreement?” he asked, adding that he personally does not want a military coup, but that the option exists.
Commenting on concerns about US missile stockpiles, Trump said the US has sufficient capabilities.
“We have more than ever before … we are stocked and ready,” he said.
Trump also repeated his forecast that oil and gas prices will fall after the end of the war with Iran.
