According to him, Iran’s military capabilities have been seriously weakened – the air force and navy, he claims, have been almost completely destroyed, and a large number of warships have been sunk. He added that since the start of the conflict, US forces have hit more than 7,000 targets across Iran, including military and commercial facilities.
Trump also explained why he asked for the support of other countries in the area of the Strait of Hormuz. He emphasized that US Secretary of State Marco Rubio will soon announce a list of countries that will support US activities in Iran. Although he did not mention specific names, he said that among them were countries from the region, but also some more distant countries.
According to him, he did not ask for support because the USA necessarily needs it, but to see the reactions of other countries. He also stated that he had spoken with French President Emmanuel Macron, whom he believes could help, and added that he expects Great Britain to be included in the mission in the Strait of Hormuz.
A reporter asked him about a statement by his AI adviser David Sacks, who warned that the US should quickly declare victory over Iran to avoid a protracted conflict in which Israel could potentially pursue nuclear weapons. Trump replied that he believed Israel would never make such a decision.
Speaking about the political situation in Iran, Trump said that US authorities are not sure whether the country’s newly elected supreme leader, Mojtaba Khamenei, is alive. He stated that there are different reports – some claim he is dead, while others believe he may be injured or in poor health.
During the conference, he also accused Iran of spreading disinformation about the war, claiming they were using fake footage and artificial intelligence to show American and Israeli targets on fire.
In the end, he said that he also spoke with Israeli leaders about the Israeli army’s offensive against Hezbollah. Although he did not directly answer whether Washington supports a major military operation, he pointed out that Hezbollah is a “serious problem” and that, according to him, this “organization is rapidly weakening.”
