Donald Trump and senior advisers met at the White House on Tuesday with oil and gas CEOs to discuss the energy fallout from the war with Iran and broader market challenges, according to a report from Axios.
Among the participants was Mike Wirth, whose presence was confirmed by a Chevron company spokesperson.
According to the same source, White House chief of staff Susie Wiles, Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent, and envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner attended the meeting.
The meeting was held at a time when the rise in crude oil prices, caused by supply disruptions in the Middle East, is increasing pressure on the administration.
The report notes that disruptions in the Strait of Hormuz, through which about a quarter of the world’s seaborne oil exports pass, have driven prices to multi-year highs while increasing demand for US crude and liquid natural gas.
