US President Donald Trump said that the US should charge for passage through the Strait of Hormuz, not Iran.
When asked if he would support a solution in which Tehran charges for the passage of ships, Trump replied that he would prefer the US to do so.
“We are the winners,” he said.
“We won. They were defeated militarily… we have a concept according to which we will charge for passage,” he added.
Trump also pointed out that, in order to meet his deadline, which expires on Tuesday night European time, an agreement with Iran “that is acceptable to me” must be reached.
He added that part of that agreement will also be a request for free oil circulation through the strait.
