On the occasion of World Health Day, which this year is celebrated under the slogan “Together for health – let’s stand by science”we would like to highlight the importance of making health decisions based on evidence and modern scientific knowledge.
In this context, the Institute for Health and Food Safety, in cooperation with the Zenica Health Center, dedicated the entire month of April to health and primary prevention, with a special focus on HPV vaccination as one of the most effective measures to protect the health of children and young people.
The HPV vaccine protects against infections that can lead to serious diseases, including cervical cancer, and is a safe and proven effective preventive intervention.
That’s why we invite all children and young people between the ages of 9 and 26 to take advantage of this opportunity and get vaccinated against HPV for free during the month of April at the Health Center (HES), every weekday from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.
The Zenica Institute for Health and Food Safety bases its activities on the principles of evidence-based medicine, following the recommendations of relevant international organizations and modern research in public health, thereby ensuring quality and effective measures to protect the health of the population.
Special focus is placed on disease prevention through scientifically proven measures, whereby vaccination is one of the most effective forms of protection.
At the same time, regular preventive examinations play a key role in maintaining health, as they enable early disease detection and timely treatment. In this context, regular mammography examinations play an important role in the early detection of breast cancer and significantly contribute to the reduction of mortality from this disease.
We would like to remind you that this year in ZDK, a permanent one was launched Preventive program for early detection of breast changeswhich includes all women from the canton area between the ages of 50 and 69.
At the same time, the Institute actively applies “One Health” conceptwhich implies an integrated approach to the health of people, animals and the environment.
As the only institution in the region that systematically implements this approach, we recognize that contemporary health challenges, including infectious diseases, antimicrobial resistance and the impact of environmental factors, are interconnected and require a coordinated, multidisciplinary response based on science.
Health is not a matter of choice – it is the result of decisions we make based on scientific facts. In a time of rapid information and numerous challenges, only knowledge based on evidence can be a sure way to preserve health.
Prevention, vaccination and regular preventive examinations are not just recommendations, they are proven to be the most effective way to save lives.
So let’s choose science. Let’s choose responsibility. Let’s choose health, because health rests on knowledge, and knowledge on science.
