As he pointed out, coach Sergej Barbarez “expects the arrival of most of the national team players”, while the players who have club commitments during the weekend will join the national team later.

The professional staff planned to start preparations in full swing from Monday.

“Part of the players are coming today and the other part on Monday. These players who play on the weekend, on my initiative, were asked not to play matches, if they are not that important. Many clubs came to meet us. Not many of them will play to avoid injury. Preparations start from Monday until June 2, when we go to America,” said Barbarez.

Our national team, timing the form for the World Cup, will play two test matches. The first control match is on May 29 against North Macedonia at the sold-out Olympic Stadium “Asim Ferhatović Hase – Koševo”, while Barbarez’s team will have a dress rehearsal on June 6 in St. Louis, an American city where a large number of our expats live, so they will feel like they are at home in that match.

The representatives of Bosnia and Herzegovina will prepare in Sarajevo until June 2 when they travel to America, that is, St. Louis. The day after the match with Panama, the popularly called “Dragons” will travel to Toronto, where on June 12, they will play a match against the host Canada in the first round of Group “B” of the World Cup, which will begin the day before.

From June 13, our national team is moving to a “permanent” base, in Salt Lake City, where they will have a training camp until the end of their participation in the World Cup. They will also look for a chance to join the 32 best selections in the world in the matches against Switzerland in Los Angeles on June 18 and Qatar six days later in Seattle.

The upcoming World Championship will be held from June 11 to July 19 in the United States of America, Canada, Mexico, and will be the first global championship where as many as 48 national teams will play. It will be only the second WC in which our national team will play, the first after 12 years and the unforgettable debut at the World Cup in Brazil in 2014.

So, we are waiting for long hot summers and football euphoria, which are already being prepared in many cities of Bosnia and Herzegovina, where Fan Zones will be organized, from which thousands of people will cheer for the team from the land of “lilies”, but also enjoy top matches for more than a month.
