Three months have passed since the tram accident in the center of Sarajevo when Erdoan Morankić (23) was killed and Ella Jovanović (17) was seriously injured. Of the officials in the government and those responsible in GRAS, no one left their position, and the investigation by the KS Prosecutor’s Office is still in the investigation phase.
On this occasion, we asked the Cantonal Prosecutor’s Office how far the prosecutors have come in the investigation of the accident that happened on February 12. In their response, they reiterated that three prosecutors are acting in this case under the supervision of two deputies and that investigations are being carried out daily.
“The investigation is in the stage of carrying out the ordered expert examinations. When all the investigative actions are carried out and all the facts in this case are correctly and completely established, a prosecutor’s decision will be made and the public will be informed about it in a timely manner”, it was announced.
Even more than a month ago, the KS Prosecutor’s Office announced that an order had been issued for mechanical and electrical expertise, and after the completion of that expertise, the expertise of a traffic expert will be conducted. The results have not arrived yet.
In the meantime, all available footage from video surveillance cameras that cover the wider area where the tram was moving, as well as the scene of the accident, have been excluded. Unfortunately, the public will never know what happened in the tram before and at the time of the accident because the video surveillance in the vehicle was not in operation.
This accident led to mass protests on the streets of Sarajevo, the resignation of the Sarajevo Canton Government and the director of GRAS, Senad Mujagić.
However, all of them remained in their positions and continue to perform their duties, given that the government still functions in a technical mandate, and the Supervisory Board of GRAS did not accept Mujagić’s resignation, writes Klix.
