The Commission for deciding on conflict of interest in the institutions of Bosnia and Herzegovina made 14 decisions for the year, although they had 35 cases on the table, with the fact that only five officials were found to have a conflict of interest and were given monetary sanctions.
In the report on the work in 2025, which they recently sent to the Parliamentary Assembly of Bosnia and Herzegovina, they did not specify specifically which 14 officials they were deciding on.
In addition to the five sanctioned, the Commission initiated proceedings in five cases during the year, they made two decisions not to initiate proceedings, as well as two decisions to suspend the proceedings. In four cases, they declared themselves incompetent.
In their work report, they listed how they had problems with making the seal, that they are making efforts to establish a website, as well as that in the first four months of last year they adopted, among other things, five regulations that they only sent to the Council of Ministers of Bosnia and Herzegovina in October, but were returned to them for revision. Now they expect approval of the regulations after the revision.
They held 14 sessions.
This commission was formed in 2024 after the adoption of the new Law on the Prevention of Conflict of Interest in BiH Institutions. From the previous one, which consisted of BH. parliamentarians, she inherited 20 cases and they are still checking most of them.
In the report, they reiterated that the compensation they receive is insufficient. It currently amounts to 600 KM and is in accordance with the provisions of the Law on Salaries and Remuneration in BiH Institutions.
At their suggestion, the Administrative Commission of Bosnia and Herzegovina The Parliament proposed changes to the Law on Prevention of Conflict of Interest in order to increase the fee by approximately 1,000 KM.
The Commission stated in the report that adequate staffing of their Department, which operates within the Agency for the Prevention of Corruption and Coordination of the Fight Against Corruption in Bosnia and Herzegovina, is necessary, taking into account the scope of competence and the number of cases.
