The three-week winter vacation for primary and secondary school students in the Zenica-Doboj Canton, who are educated according to the Bosnian and Serbian curriculum, officially began today, but the last day of school for these students was the last day of the past calendar year.
Due to the non-working days of the national holiday, and then the non-working days for the weekend, the beginning of the winter vacation was moved to the first working day in January, which is January 5.
The holiday officially lasts until the 23rd, but the second semester starts on the first working Monday, January 26, so these students will be on holiday for almost four full weeks.
The winter break for the students of the “Osman-efendija Redžović” High School, in accordance with the agreement of the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sports of the ZDK and in accordance with the Framework teaching calendar for madrasas of the Islamic Community in Bosnia and Herzegovina, also begins today, but it will last only until January 9, and for them the first working day in 2026 will be January 12.
The three-week winter vacation for primary and secondary school students in that canton, which teach in the Croatian language, officially began on December 22, but the last day of the first semester for those students was December 19 last year.
Due to the Catholic Christmas, these students go to the winter vacation earlier, which ends for them on January 9, but they also return to classes on January 12, when the second semester begins in the municipalities of Žepče and Usora and the Catholic School Center Sveti Pavao in Zenica, then Franciscan High School and schools in Vares, where the NPP is implemented in the Croatian language.
In the municipalities of Žepče and Usora, the activity of primary and secondary education, in accordance with the laws, is under the jurisdiction of the said municipalities.
