The US State Department has approved the possible sale of the P-8A multi-role maritime patrol and reconnaissance aircraft and related equipment to Denmark, the Pentagon announced on Monday.
The estimated cost is 1.8 billion dollars (1.53 billion euros), the Agency for Security Cooperation in Defense announced.
“The proposed sale will enhance Denmark’s ability to meet current and future threats by providing a credible force capable of deterring adversaries and participating in NATO operations,” it said.
The main contractor will be the Boeing company based in the federal state of Virginia, it added.
