– The evidence showed that there is a high risk that consumers in the EU meet with illegal products on the platform – stated in the public statement published on Monday.
“In particular, the analysis of the Secret Purchase Provided by the Commission revealed that consumers who buy on the topic would very likely find products that are not in accordance with the regulations among the offer, such as toys for babies and small electronics,” said in a statement.
The Chinese company can now respond to the charges and solve problems initiated in the review.
If the topic does not eliminate concerns, the Commission may formally declare the violation of the EU Law on Digital Services (DSA) and to say a fine of up to 6% of the global annual Temu’s turnover.
The EU executive body, however, emphasized that the final decision has not yet been adopted.
