From the Srebrenica Memorial Center, the public informed the public that due to the current security and political situation in the state, with an emphasis on smaller BH. Entity Center to further be closed. We transfer their statement completely:
– The Srebrenica Memorial Center informs the public that, in accordance with the current security situation, be closed until further notice. This decision has been adopted due to the inability to ensure adequate security guarantees for our employees, guests and visitors, and all in accordance with legal regulations and current circumstances and a state-focused against state institutions from rebellious groups based in Banja Luka.
The safety of all involved must be in the first place, and the center will remain closed until the situation is stabilized and not ensure appropriate guarantees. All employees in the Memorial Center will perform their duties through the work from the house, if possible, in order to maintain the continuity of administrative and other operations. This work organization will be temporary until the conditions for re-return to regular activities are obtained. Also, all activities we can implement in Sarajevo and in other locations will continue, including a planned conference for 11.3. in the capital of BiH.
We express our gratitude to all visitors in understanding and patience during this period. Our mission remains unchanged – keeping memories of genocide victims and educations of the importance of peace, tolerance and human rights.
The decision to reopen the Memorial Center will be adopted depending on the development of the security situation and after the competent authorities provide the necessary guarantees for the safety of all involved. Also, we will request SIPA security guarantees, OHR and EUFOR for it. But even now, we will not agree to ensure that the institution committed by genocide and which still cares for the tradition of genocide in the name and organization. We invite the state leadership that as soon as possible everything that can and ensure the basic security of all citizens at every step of this country, starting from Srebrenica – transferred to the statement, writes Factor.
