“The mission of the Church is to preach the Gospel, to preach peace,” said the first American pope.
“If someone wants to criticize me for preaching the Gospel… I hope they will simply listen to me because of the value of God’s words,” he added.
Earlier today, US President Donald Trump again criticized Pope Leo XIV, this time ahead of US Secretary of State Marco Rubio’s visit to the Vatican, which is planned for this week.
Speaking on a radio show hosted by conservative Hugh Hewitt, Trump accused Leo of “endangering a lot of Catholics and other people,” claiming he apparently believes “it’s OK for Iran to have nuclear weapons.”
