The plane carrying Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez made an emergency landing in Turkey on Sunday night due to an alleged technical fault, the Spanish government said, confirming earlier media reports.
Sánchez was on his way to Armenia, where he was supposed to participate in the summit of the European political community, when the incident occurred, due to which the plane had to make an unplanned landing in Ankara.
The Spanish delegation is expected to continue its journey to Yerevan on Monday, where European leaders will gather.
The statement did not provide details on the nature of the technical problem.
