The deadline for the preparation and submission of financial reports is the end of February this year, but according to available data, the total investments of JP Autocesta FBiH in the construction of Corridor 5C and expressways in FBiH, as well as expropriation, design and other capital investments in 2025, amount to almost 858.5 million KM.

“Autocesto” confirmed to “Avaz” that seven construction sites on seven sections are currently active on corridor 5C, the contracted value of which is more than 1.92 billion KM excluding VAT.
– Construction sites on 4 sections of expressways are also active, the total contracted value, which includes construction and supervision, is KM 424,758,180 without VAT. The total planned capital investments in 2026 amount to 1,206,107,081 KM, of which 1,144,232,381 KM is related to the construction and supervision of the construction of highways and expressways – they told us in Autoceste FBiH.
In the first quarter of this year, the Putnikovo Brdo – Medakovo section is planned to be put into traffic, in the second quarter, the most technically demanding section Vranduk – Ponirak – Nemila will also be put into traffic, while the Medakovo – Ozimice section is planned for the third quarter of 2026. Construction sites will also be activated on the sections Kvanj – Buna, and the expressway Mostar – Polog – Široki Brijeg – the border with Croatia.
– Of the total planned 337 kilometers of highway through BiH, about 140 kilometers have been built so far. The plan is for the northern part of Corridor 5C to be fully completed and put into traffic by the end of 2026, and the southern part, i.e. the continuation of the highway from Mostar to the border with Croatia and the Adriatic coast, especially through mountainous terrain, for example the Prenj tunnel, has a longer time frame. The safety and traffic efficiency of citizens are important, but the main emphasis of investments in 2026 is on the intensification of construction and the completion of infrastructure segments, with the most significant challenges – the Prenj and Kvanj tunnels – the FBiH Highway specified.
Traffic safety
The main goals of the investments planned this year are to increase traffic safety through the construction of modern roads, the application of advanced safety systems and the removal of risk points on sections, then easier and faster traffic for citizens and the economy – shortening travel times, better connectivity between cities and reducing congestion on existing roads, and intensifying construction on the planned sections of the corridor and supporting network through the continuation of started projects and the initiation of new ones, with the aim of accelerating the implementation of the entire project, writes Avaz.
