This year, the race will gather a large number of recreational athletes, professional runners and sports fans from Bosnia and Herzegovina, the region and the world, offering participants a unique sports experience through the streets of the capital. The organizer of the race is the Marathon Sarajevo Association, and the aim of the event is to promote a healthy lifestyle, recreational running, sports tourism and the positive energy that Sarajevo traditionally sends through such events.
“Today, the Sarajevo Race is no longer just a ten-kilometer race. It is an event that has become part of the city’s identity and one of the symbols of Sarajevo’s sports summer. It is especially important to us that every year we gather people of different generations, habits and life stories, from professional athletes to recreational athletes who may be running this distance for the first time. It is this combination of sport, emotion, city energy and togetherness that gives the Sarajevo Race a special value and makes it an event that people return to year after year,” said Elvedin. Tunović, executive director of the Marathon Sarajevo Association.

For years, the Sarajevo race has been one of the most recognizable recreational races in the region, and it is especially recognizable for its evening schedule, attractive city atmosphere and a large number of citizens who support the runners along the route. During the previous editions, the race gathered thousands of participants from dozens of countries around the world, positioning Sarajevo as an important regional destination for sports events and urban tourism. As last year, the race route will connect the most recognizable sports symbols of Sarajevo, the Zetra Olympic Arena, Grbavica Stadium and Koševo Stadium. This particular route caused extremely positive reactions among the participants due to its symbolism, atmosphere and specific experience of the city during the night race.
“The evening schedule and the route that combines the sports symbols of the city give the Sarajevo Race a special atmosphere that runners recognize and remember. We offer runners an experience of the city that is different from classic road races, and this is precisely the reason why a large number of participants return to Sarajevo year after year,” Tunović added.
The organizer of the race is the Sarajevo Marathon Association, which has been promoting recreational running, healthy living and urban tourism for almost two decades through events such as the Sarajevo Half Marathon and Run Fest Sarajevo and the Sarajevo Running Club. Through its activities, the Association emphasizes social responsibility through humanitarian action and actively contributes to the development of sports culture and positive energy in the community.
