The most influential Israeli lawyer, former President of the Supreme Court Aharon Barak, stated that the last moves of the government, including attempts to remove the head of Shin Beta and the state prosecutor, lead the country to the civil war.
Speaking of the Ynet newspaper portal on the moves of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Barak said:
“The main problem is that the Israeli society is the eighth battlefield,” alluding to Israeli conflicts with Iranian proxy groups on seven fronts.
“And that is a serious rift among the Israelites themselves,” he added.
“This rift gets worse and finally, I’m afraid, it’ll be like a train that pops out of the rail and to finish yourself in the abyss, causing civil war.”
“We have to prevent the tyranny of the majority,” he concluded.
