At the suggestion of the Minister of Health Dr. Aide Salčinović, the Government of the Zenica-Doboj Canton at today’s session adopted the Decision on determining the list of medicines under special approval, as well as the way to exercise the right of insured persons to use them.
The new decision significantly expands the rights of patients, who in the future will be able to use drugs from the List regardless of their form, strength or packaging, provided that they correspond to the medical indication and the generic name. The list was further expanded with four new drugs – somatrogon, glucagon, triptorelin and denosumab, which gives patients access to more modern therapies and improves the quality of treatment.
The Government emphasizes that this decision represents an important step towards greater transparency, better availability of medicines and better health care for insured persons in the canton.
At the same session, the Program for spending funds of the Ministry of Health in the position “Current transfer to JU Cantonal Hospital for the education of doctors of medicine and dentistry on specialization and secondary doctors” in the Budget of ZDK for the year 2026, in the amount of 5 million KM, was adopted.
The funds are intended to finance the gross salaries of doctors on specialization and secondaries at the Zenica Cantonal Hospital, with the aim of strengthening the health system, providing professional staff and preventing the outflow of medical professionals.
Minister of Health dr. Aida Salčinović said that the adopted decisions confirm the Government’s commitment to improving the health sector.
“By expanding the list of drugs with special approval, we enable patients to have faster and easier access to the necessary therapies, while by investing in specializations and supporting young doctors, we are building a stable and high-quality health workforce for the future,” said Minister Salčinović.
