The administrative and technical staff employed in judicial institutions in the Tuzla Canton have been on strike for a month and a half, and yesterday they held a protest in front of the TK Government building. The current situation was also discussed during the session of the Cantonal Government.
Namely, at the last session, the Government of Tuzla Canton considered the information of the Ministry of Justice and Administration about the strike of part of the employees in the judicial institutions of TK and made conclusions aimed at protecting legality, legal security and the smooth functioning of the judicial system.
The Government of TK considers that the independent union of civil servants and employees of the judiciary in the TK does not have the appropriate representativeness acquired in the manner defined by law, and therefore does not have the legitimacy to discuss employment issues with the Government.
“In this regard, and in accordance with the current regulations, the Government tasked the Cantonal Attorney’s Office to take the necessary actions and activities in the shortest possible time, and no longer than 10 days, and submit a claim to the competent court for the publication of illegal decisions on representativeness made by five courts in the area of Tuzla Canton and the Cantonal Prosecutor’s Office, as well as a claim for the prohibition of the strike”, announced the Government of TK.
The Government of Tuzla Canton emphasizes that it is a matter of responsible and institutional action, which aims to preserve the stability of the judicial system, protect the rights of all employees and respect the law as the basis of any social dialogue.
“The government of TK has been leading an active and responsible policy towards the rights of workers and trade union partners for years, and through negotiations with the representative trade union, it has ensured numerous improvements – from the continuous increase in wages (a total of 41.5 percent from 2022 to December 2025), to the improvement of working conditions and changes to regulations that facilitate employment in judicial institutions,” the Cantonal Government stated.
In addition to the above, the Government of TK recently, at the end of the last calendar year, ended the social dialogue for the representative Independent Trade Union of civil servants and employees in civil service bodies, judicial authorities and public institutions of FBiH.
As they said, this resulted in the signing of agreements and annexes that determine the base for salary calculation, the lowest salary, and the amounts of hot meals and holiday allowances for employees in the sectors of primary, secondary and higher education, police, civil service, justice and culture in the Tuzla Canton for the year 2026.
“With these agreements, civil servants and state employees, including employees of judicial institutions in TK, have their salaries increased by 7 percent from January 1 and an additional 3 percent from September 1, 2026,” the Government of TK added.
The outcome of such an agreement and annex is that, as emphasized, civil servants and employees, including those in the judiciary, are among the highest paid in the cantons of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, and any talk about regulations and salary supplements is unacceptable at this moment.
At the same time, the Government concludes that it remains committed to the continuation of partnership negotiations with all representative unions, with a clear and already demonstrated determination to improve the rights of employees through legal and sustainable mechanisms, writes Klix.
