At today’s session, on December 23, the Government of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, at the proposal of the Federal Ministry of Finance, adopted the Decision on determining the criteria for the allocation of funds determined by the Budget of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina for 2025 to this ministry within the framework of Current transfers to other levels of government and funds – cantons, in the amount of 200,000,000 KM, in the name of the allocation of financial assistance to cantonal budgets for the implementation of structural reforms.
The criteria for the allocation of funds to the cantons are the number of inhabitants according to the Census of Population, Households and Apartments in Bosnia and Herzegovina from 2013, with the application of a weighting of two (2) for the Posavina and Bosnian-Podrinj cantons.
Based on the criteria from this decision, the allocation of funds to the cantons with individual amounts is determined for:
- Una-Sanski 23,903,093.37 KM,
- Posavski 7,601,971.13 KM,
- Tuzla 38,928,152.34 KM,
- Zenica-Doboj 31,878,226.40 KM,
- Bosnian-Podrinjski 4,152,191.62 KM,
- Central Bosnian 22,278,273.29 KM,
- Herzegovina-Neretva 19,419,727.11 KM,
- West Herzegovina Canton 8,301,059.26 KM,
- and Sarajevo Canton 36,178,423.18 KM,
- and for Canton 10 the amount of 7,358,882.30 KM.
The users of the funds are required to spend 20 percent of the allocated funds on the implementation of demographic policy and measures in the cantons, and to submit a report on the use of funds to the Federal Ministry of Finance no later than 31 December 2026.
The Government of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina will transfer the funds until January 31, 2026, to the deposit accounts of the cantonal budget, in accordance with the Rulebook on the method of payment, allocation and distribution of public revenues in the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
