The French claim: "We are not participating in the war against Iran"

– France has not entered the war since the beginning of this crisis. We said it: since the objectives are not clearly defined and the operations are being conducted outside the framework of international law, it was simply not conceivable for France to participate – Barrot told BFM TV, reports Anadolu.

He stressed the need to prevent the continuation of hostilities within the framework of the negotiations.

– As everyone has seen since the beginning of this war, which we did not support and in which we did not participate, the risks of escalation are extremely high. They have serious consequences for the global economy, and thus for our everyday life – said Barrot.

He emphasized that the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz must be ensured, reminding that an international mission is being prepared to establish conditions for the normalization of maritime traffic.

– There must be no blockade, blackmail or charging of passage through any strait. International waters must not be blocked in any way and by anyone – said Barrot.

The United States and Israel launched attacks on Iran on February 28, prompting Tehran to retaliate with attacks on US allies in the Gulf, and the conflict has disrupted key shipping routes that carry about 20 percent of the world’s oil and gas. The war is currently on hiatus, while efforts continue to end it permanently.
