Roads of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina published a video showing the progress of works on the construction of the Šićki Brod – Đurđevik road, one of the most important infrastructure projects in the Tuzla Canton.
It is about a 17-kilometer-long road, the construction of which began last year, and work is currently underway on a 5.85-kilometer section.
This road is of great importance because, in addition to relieving traffic through Živinice, it will speed up travel between Sarajevo and Tuzla, one of the busiest routes in the Federation of BiH.
The work is performed by domestic companies
The project is implemented by Roads of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, while the works are carried out by a consortium of domestic companies led by companies such as Euro-Asfalt and Jata Group.
The value of the contract for this section is 58.5 million KM including VAT, and the deadline for the works is 30 months. The project includes the construction of a complete route, facilities and hubs, drainage system, as well as installation of traffic signals and equipment.
Tuzla Canton has been facing a lack of modern road infrastructure for years, considering that not a single kilometer of highway or expressway has been built in its area, despite strong industry and a large population.

The new road is designed as a two-lane road with a speed of 80 kilometers per hour, while the existing M18 highway will remain for local traffic.
The construction of this road, also known as the bypass around Živinice, aims to increase traffic safety, reduce congestion and enable a faster flow of people and goods, which should have a direct positive impact on the economy and everyday life of citizens.
Work on the ground is progressing, and a new video gives an insight into what one of the largest construction sites in this part of Bosnia and Herzegovina currently looks like.
