The Government of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina is preparing amendments to the law on the Southern Gas Interconnection, which should finally stop the implementation of one of the most important energy projects in the country.
According to the information he obtained BiznisInfo.bathese changes could be discussed at the FBiH Government session in the coming days, after which the proposal would be sent to the parliamentary procedure.
As we unofficially learn, the government is considering a rather unusual solution – to enter the name of the investor who will implement the project directly into the law.
It is a move that represents a kind of precedent, but could significantly accelerate the implementation of the project. If the Parliament of FBiH adopts such a proposal, the investor could start implementation practically immediately.
Let us remind you that at the beginning of the year the Government of FBiH adopted the information about the received letter of intent from the American company AAFS Infrastructure and Energy LLC, which expressed interest in major infrastructure investments in BiH.
Their plan includes the development of the Southern Gas Interconnection between Bosnia and Herzegovina and Croatia, the construction of gas power plants, but also the modernization of airports in Sarajevo and Mostar.
The Southern Interconnection is considered a project that could completely change the way energy is supplied in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
It is planned to connect the domestic gas network with the LNG terminal on Krk, which would give BiH access to the global gas market, including American LNG, and reduce dependence on one supplier.
