Europe should increase the stocks of key equipment and encourage the public to maintain sufficient stocks for at least 72 hours in the event of emergencies, the European Commission said today.
“In the case of serious disorders, the most critical is the initial period,” writes in the document in which it has had insight into the scenarios such as war, Cayber attacks, infectious diseases and floods caused by climate change.
The Commission stated the EU’s new strategy to prepare for risks such as natural disasters, Cayber attacks and geopolitical crises, including the possibility of armed aggression on the Union countries, reports Routers.
“Families living in floodplains need to know what to do when water increases. Early warning systems can prevent people from making people’s forest fires lose precious time,” said the president of the European Commission Ursula von Der Layen.
The European Commission’s strategy focuses on improving early warning systems, ensuring the continuity of basic services such as health care and drinking water, and providing assistance to citizens to prepare for the response to the crisis.
The Deputy Prime Minister Roxana Minzat should present a strategy today, and states that the “roof is repaired while shining the sun”.
As part of that plan, the Member States shall be given recommendations on how to plan crisis situations, storage of basic stocks, provide shelters and protection to key infrastructure.
