According to the “readiness 2030” plan, the European Commission shall collect up to 150 billion euros in capital markets and provide financial support to EU members to increase investments in key defense sectors.
“Exceptional times require exceptional measures. I welcome the Treatment Instrument Agreement in Europe, our Instrument for Lending The Defense Industry, as a key step forward,” said the President of the European Commission Ursula von Der Leyen.
She added that Europe must now take up much of the responsibility for their own safety and defense.
Von Der Leyen stressed that the adopted agreement enables investment “in the most modern capacities for our Union, for Ukraine and for the entire continent”, and to strengthen the European Technology and Industrial Defense Base.
Funds will be collected in capital markets and paid to the stakeholders on requests on request, based on their investment plans for the European Defense Industry, stated in the statement.
