Liverpool star Mohamed Salah will lead Egypt’s squad at the World Cup in North America next month, coach Hossam Hassan announced on Saturday.
The roster didn’t hold many surprises, other than the inclusion of an up-and-coming forward Hamza Abdel Karim. The 18-year-old is on loan from the Egyptian giant Al Ahly to Barcelona Atletico, the reserve team of the La Liga champions.
Manchester City striker Omar Marmoushwho has scored eight goals in 36 appearances for his club this season, should spearhead Egypt’s attack at the tournament.
Egypt will start the World Cup against of Belgium June 15 in Seattle as part of group G. Then on June 22 comes a match against New Zealandand on June 27 against Iran.
The team will play their last friendly before the start of the World Cup against Brazil on June 6 in Ohio.
