The reputable sports media The Athletic has published a large ranking list of the jerseys of all 48 national teams that will participate in the upcoming World Cup.
According to them, the World Cup will not only be a sports spectacle on the field, but also a kind of fashion show where, during 37 days, fans will see a wide range of designs – from retro-inspired jerseys to modern and innovative solutions.
Journalist Nick Miller ranked all the jerseys from the best to the weakest, and the public’s attention was particularly drawn to the position of Croatia, which finished last, in 48th place.
The explanation states that Nike deviated from the recognizable design of Croatian “cubes”, which, according to the author, led to a failed solution. The criticism refers to the size of the square and the additional white elements in the design, which the text says distort the identity of the jersey.
The second worst rated jersey went to Canada, while the United States took 26th place and Mexico 17th among tournament hosts.
Bosnia and Herzegovina was in 31st place. In the description of the jersey signed by Kelme, The Athletic states that the design is solid, with praise for the combination of yellow and navy colors and discreet details on the front, collar and sleeves.
However, the text also highlights criticism of the Kelma brand, especially their paw-shaped logo, which the author ironically states gives the impression of a promotional t-shirt for an animal shelter.
At the very top of the list was Ghana, whose jersey was especially praised for its design inspired by kente cloth, a traditional Ghanaian textile.
Second place was taken by Brazil, followed by England and Germany, which were also highly rated on this list.
