As expected, the person who opposed the most ministers and Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu was the Chief of the General Staff of the Israeli Army Eyal Zamir.
According to Israeli Ynet, during the long session on the eve of making a decision, between him and ministers erupted fierce conflicts involving insulting and raising the tone.
Zamir warned about the consequences of displacement of about a million inhabitants of Gaza – and harm hostages.
In the conflict he broke out with Minister Ben Guire, the head of the cabinet emphasized that “There is no humanitarian solution for a million people we will transfer. Everything will be complicated.”
He fiercely criticized the Ministers and told them, “I suggest that the return of the abductees remove from the goals of the fight,” he said.
His attitude was especially bothered by Israeli Minister Itamaru Ben-Guira who replied.
“Stop talking to the media. We wish. We all take care of the hostages, but also for soldiers and fighters that require victory. You are subordinate to the police how to obey political echo decisions,” Ben-Guira said.
The word “occupation” was not used in the decision of the cabinet, but was replaced by the phrase “Download”. The media state that this is done exclusively for legal reasons related to the responsibility for the civilian population.
The operation will be carried out in phases, and Idf will start the occupation of the city of Gaza.
