The delegation of the National Coordination of Bosniaks in Croatia – “Bosniaks together”, consisting of President Bermin Meškić, Secretary General Davud Mešinović and Tarik Hajdarević, field coordinator of the parliamentary representative Armin Hodžić, visited the Zenica-Doboj Canton today. On that occasion, they met and talked with Prime Minister Nezir Pivić and Chairman of the ZDK Assembly Ćazim Huskić. The meeting was also attended by the Minister of Finance Dženana Čišija and the Minister of Agriculture, Water Management and Forestry Jasmin Čajić.
The guests from the Republic of Croatia thanked for the reception and presented the current status of Bosniaks in that country, as well as the possibilities of improving cooperation with the institutions of the Zenica-Doboj Canton.
Meškić explained that there had been a marked disunity among Bosniaks in Croatia for a long time, but that after nine years they managed to achieve a significant political result – the election of representative Armin Hodžić to the Croatian Parliament. This made Bosniaks more visible in the public space, and their voice stronger.
He pointed out that to strengthen the presence of Bosniaks in the institutions of the Republic of Croatia, the appointment of Bermin Meškić as an external member of the Committee for the Judiciary of the Croatian Parliament is particularly important.
– When we talk about the rights of Bosniaks in the Republic of Croatia, it is important to emphasize that they are very good, and the legal solutions are at a high European level. Today, we live in full freedom of thought and democracy, which gives us space to articulate ourselves clearly, and that is why we are proud to enter the Croatian Parliament. Our desire is to expand cooperation and meet all the prime ministers of cantons in BiH, where we have open doors – said Meškić.
ZDK Prime Minister Nezir Pivić thanked the delegation for the visit and emphasized the importance of mutual cooperation.
– I thank you for coming to the Zenica-Doboj Canton and for building a space for conversation, understanding and joint action. Bosniaks, regardless of where they live, should be connected, organized and dedicated to common interests – said Nezir Pivić.
He said that the Government of Zenica-Doboj Canton will always be open to cooperation with the institutions and representatives of Bosniaks in Croatia, because we believe that preserving the identity, culture and political visibility of our people is of common importance.
– This visit is a step towards strengthening ties and I am convinced that we can work together on projects that will benefit both our people in BiH and Bosniaks in Croatia – said Prime Minister Nezir Pivić.
