Paraguayan tennis player Adolfo Daniel Vallejo will have to pay half of the money earned at Roland Garros to fines.
Vallejo was fined for making sexist comments after the second round match with Moise Kouame.
The atmosphere in the stands was tense, the fans were often noisier and more inappropriate than usual.
“These kinds of matches should be refereed by men. It’s difficult for women to do that,” Vallejo said.
Director of Roland Garros Amelie Morezmo says Vallejo has been fined 65,000 euros, the largest fine in the tournament’s history.
Vallejo earned 130,000 euros for qualifying for the second round.
By the way, he lost that match against Kuame 3-2 after almost five hours of fighting.
